Studio notes: the five reds we keep coming back to.
Wine, brick, blue-red, rouge, true crimson — what each does on Indian skin, and the two we wear most.
— the metabu studio

Red is the one shade that exposes everything — formulation, pigment quality, your day. We tested over forty reds in development. Five made it. Here's what each one does.
wine — the one that makes you look slept-in
Cool-undertoned, deep, with enough purple to read sophisticated rather than gothic. Reads expensive in low light, almost berry on warmer skin tones.
brick — the one for everyday
Earthy, warm, the colour of clay tile. Wears like a nude with intent. Pairs beautifully with brown eyeliner and a clean, fresh skin.
blue-red — the one for photographs
Cool-undertoned, slightly raspberry. Whitens teeth, brightens skin. Don't reach for it casually — it commands a room.
rouge — the one for office
Soft true-red with a touch of orange. Reads professional rather than dramatic. Easiest red to wear with a navy blazer.
crimson — the one for nights out
Pure, saturated, no bullshit. The one we wear when there isn't time to do eye makeup but there's time for a lip.
"Red works on everyone. The trick is knowing which red is yours."
